Christmas-ding-donga-ding
A time to remember
And a time to sing.
A time to forget.
To forget all the broken
Things in my life.
The unmended and the never-begun
The tears of regret
What was left unspoken
What was left unsung.
And what was ignored
Or thrown back, a discarded present.
And it is all there
When you wake the next day.
So wear a paper hat
Laugh falsely and all that
Because it hasn’t gone away
This loneliness, that stares
Back at me, a Christmas ghost,
Is always here to stay.
